FIFTH MONTH 

 
 1 - THE BABY :
 
Foetal length : week 18 from 20 cm to 26 cm at week 22
 
Foetal weight : from 240g to 500g
 
Your baby begins to have some hair.
 
Her nails grow.
 
She spend her time to sleep between 16 and 20 hours per 24. However when the baby is not sleeping, she is very active and moves a lot.
 
Her brain begins to grow.
 
At the end of the month, gender can be seen at he second scan.
 
It is time to do the 2nd scan : if you don't want to know if your baby is girl or a boy, tell it to the radiologist before starting the scan.
 

  

 2 - YOU :
 
Your appetite is growing and growing. Be careful to the food you eat. If you take too many kilos because you eat too much, the doctor may tell you to have a diet.
 
Your legs may become heavy and painful. Tell it to the doctor. 
Some tips to avoid it :
 
sleep your legs up. Put a pillow under them.
 
massage your legs from ankles to knee.
 
don't have too hot shower, especially on legs (also on breast).
 
walk or/and swim in order to help your blood to better circulate.
 

If you find that your legs or another part of your body is swollen, tell it to the doctor. He will tell you if you suffer from pre-eclamptic toxemia (PET)

 
The 3rd compulsory visit : physical examination, uterus height, your weight, your blood pressure, the checking of your cervix.
 
You feel tired and breathless. So keep resting
 
Your nose and gums may bleed.
